§ Personal Information
Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Attorney Michael Obrand moved with his family to California when he was a teenager. Mr. Obrand and his wife Cynthia have been married for over 30 years and have three children.  

§ Education
After graduating with a B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara, Mr. Obrand attended the University of California Hastings College of the Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1973. While attending Hastings, Mr. Obrand was an editorial associate of the Hastings Law Journal and a member of the Thurston Honor Society.
 
§ Professional Experience
Attorney Michael Obrand has substantial experience in Business Law, Real Estate Law, and Personal Injury, and has earned a reputation for being a successful trial lawyer, litigating hundreds of cases in both California and Colorado.

Mr. Obrand began his legal career as a trial attorney with the Contra Costa County Public Defender's Office, where he handled numerous misdemeanor and felony jury trials.

Upon leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Attorney Michael Obrand went into private practice, and after several years he was hired as General Counsel for Coldwell Banker's Residential Brokerage Firm in Southern California. While acting in his capacity as General Counsel, Mr. Obrand not only supervised their legal department, but also litigated cases with significant exposure brought against Coldwell Banker. These cases generally involved issues of fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and negligence.

Attorney Obrand moved his family to Telluride, Colorado in 1988, fulfilling a life-long dream to live in the mountain and practice law.

In 1988, Mr. Obrand and his family moved to Telluride, Colorado where he fulfilled a life-long dream to live in the mountains and practice law. As a member of the Colorado State Bar, Attorney Obrand’s law practice focused on general civil and criminal litigation, including criminal defense, family law, personal injury litigation, real estate law and general business law.

While practicing law in Telluride, Mr. Obrand also served for three years as a member of the San Miguel County Planning Commission, as well as serving for one year as the Executive Director of the San Miguel Regional Housing Authority and Acting Director of the Telluride Housing Authority.
In addition to being a member of both the California State Bar and the Colorado State Bar, Attorney Obrand is also an experienced mediator.

Presently, Attorney Michael Obrand is engaged in the practice of law in Orange County, California where his practice focuses on general real estate law, and business law and litigation (including buyer-seller-broker disputes, contracts, land use and zoning matters, breach of contract, copyright infringement and trade secret litigation), and personal injury litigation.

Mr. Obrand is admitted to practice before both the state and federal courts of California and Colorado, as well as the United States Supreme Court.

Jesse Obrand

§ Personal Information
Jesse Obrand was born in Laguna Beach, California. In 1988, Jesse moved to Telluride, Colorado with his family. While in Telluride, Jesse excelled at basketball and soccer, and in his junior year of high school, was a 1st Team All State performer in both sports. Although Jesse loved living in the mountains, he longed to return to the beach and compete against better competition, on California’s bigger stage. After returning to Laguna Beach for his senior year, Jesse helped lead the 1999 LBHS basketball team to their first league championship in over 36 years and a #1 CIF playoff ranking.

Upon graduating from LBHS, Jesse went on to play Division 1 basketball at the University of California Irvine, where he was a member of UC Irvine’s 2002 Big West Conference Regular Season Championship team. While playing at UC Irvine, Jesse also received a Big West Conference Scholar/Athlete award for outstanding academic achievement during the basketball season.

Jesse surfs and continues to play basketball in his free time. In addition, Jesse also volunteers with the LBHS boy’s basketball team, coaching and teaching skill development.

§ Education
Jesse received his B.A. in History from the University of California at Irvine. After graduating from UCI, Jesse moved to Monterey, California where he attended the Monterey College of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 2009. While at Monterey College of Law, Jesse was one of the top students in his class and was a Heisler Moot Court Finalist, zealously advocating free speech rights with respect to broadcast stations before a distinguished panel of Appellate Court Justices. Jesse was inducted into the Heisler Society as a result of his advanced achievements in oral advocacy.

§ Professional Experience
Prior to graduating from law school, Jesse worked for Fischer Schrader, LLP in Monterey, California, doing construction defect litigation. After graduating and passing the California State Bar, Jesse joined his father Michael’s law practice, and together they formed the Obrand Law Group. Although recently admitted to the California Bar in June 2010, Jesse has already gained substantial experience in general real estate and business litigation, as well as experience in criminal appeals.

Jesse is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of California.
